Barber
Karting Scholarship Pool Announced For the fourth consecutive season, Skip Barber Racing will conduct a runoff from which four karters will earn scholarships to race in the Formula Dodge National Championship, as well as take part in advanced racing school courses, an award that is valued at over $27,000. Notable past scholarship winners include the Barber Dodge Pro Series Rookies of the Year Michael Valiante [co-winner 1999] and Ryan Hunter-Reay [2000]. Sixteen drivers were chosen to take part in a three-day program, leading into the competitive runoffs at Sebring early next year. The invitees come from three of the top karting organizations, with the World Karting Association, Superkarts USA and the International Karting Federation represented. The 2000 Karting Scholarship Invitees are: A.J. Allmendinger; 18, Hollister, California Craig Baltzer; 16, Bettendorf, Iowa Jason Bowles; 17, Ontario, California Nick Bussell; 17, Ionia, Michigan Juliana Victoria Chiovitti; 18, Sutton, West Ontario, Canada Tommy Contino; 18, Hesperia, California Boomer DeRoads; 16, Encinitas, California Jason Fredricks; 16, Middletown, New York James Gue, 18, Roswell, Georgia Ward Imrie, 17, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada David Mayhew Jr.; 18, Atascadero, California Ben Moore; 16, Circle Naples, Florida Carlos Ramirez; 17 Annadale, Virginia Michael Romeo; 17, Niagara Falls, Ontario Adam Sodano; 21, Boston, Massachusetts Bobby Wilson; 18, Ononomowoc, Wisconsin |
